Back to School: 5 Ways to Make the First Week a Little Easier

Summer is slowly coming to an end, which means for many parents, the first week of school is quickly approaching.
Even as adults, many of us at Leyadoll can still remember how chaotic, stressful and tiring those first few days of school could be. The first day comes with a lot of excitement, but it can also mean early mornings, busy schedules, new routines and, for some little ones, saying goodbye to their parents for the day.
We wanted to take a moment to share a few simple tips that could help make the transition back to school a little less stressful for everyone involved.
1. Practice waking up early
As much as no one wants to wake up early, taking some time to gradually get used to an earlier wake-up time can make the first week of school a little easier.
A week or so before school starts, try setting the alarm a little earlier each morning and getting back into a consistent morning routine. This gives everyone a chance to adjust before those first early school mornings arrive.
And, of course, some naps may be required along the way!
2. Go back-to-school shopping before the crowds
No one enjoys trying to find school supplies in a crowded store when everyone else is doing the same thing.
Getting some of the essentials ahead of time can help shorten the back-to-school to-do list and make the final days of summer a little more relaxed. It can also give your little ones a chance to get excited about choosing some of their new school supplies.
3. Lay out clothes the night before
For many little ones, one of the most exciting parts of the first day is finding that perfect back-to-school outfit.
Having their clothes, shoes and other essentials ready to go the night before can make a huge difference on busy mornings. It means one less thing to worry about when everyone is trying to get out the door on time.
It can also give your little one the chance to feel involved in preparing for their big day.
4. Make time for memories
Between packing lunches, getting everyone dressed and making sure nobody forgets their backpack, it can be easy for the morning to become a rush.
