Beaners Fun Cuts and Leyadoll just launched their first ever "My First Haircut" event. From free personalized Beaners Leyadolls to adorable haircuts, this is one story you're gonna want to read!
On Thursday, October 15, 2026, we partnered with beaners fun cuts, a local Calgarian children's hair salon, to create an unforgettable first haircut experience.
What made this moment so memorable?
Well, it's no surprise that first haircuts can be scary. I distinctly remember how terrified I was when I got my haircut at that age.
But why is it so scary to little ones?
It could be a combination of several different things: a child is in an unfamiliar environment, they don't want to be alone, they're scared to look different, etc.
Regardless of what the fear may be, we believe that it stems from the same place: uncertainty*.
That's why we created a custom, personalized doll for them.
Introducing our first ever personalized Leyadoll for a business.
This haircut companion doll was designed to help comfort little ones during this uncertain and unfamiliar experience.
In addition to including all the elements that little ones already love about our dolls; soft fabric, adorable faces, easy to hold, they also came with a removable embroidered barber's cape.
What made this barbers' cape so special is that it helped normalize the experience to the child. If my dolly can wear this, then I can too!
And the response?
Better than we could have expected.
beaners fun cuts was nearly booked solid. They even had to extend the event's hours!
Families from all across Calgary came to this event. Little ones left laughing and smiling, not crying. Parents and loved ones felt relieved that their child's first haircut was a positive one.
Many families even noted that they were surprised that their child had gotten through the appointment! Some of the children who attended had tried to get their hair cut in the past but couldn't finish the appointment because of how overwhelmed they were.
The combination of our personalized beaners' haircut companion dolls and the incredible team at their salon, really made this milestone one to remember.
