Leyadoll Safety Standards: A Closer Look

All of our products are EU-CE, US-CPSIA, and CA-CCPSA certified. Our fabrics, yarns, and fillings are tested to ensure that they are safe and non-toxic. But what does that actually mean?

This week, we had the opportunity to speak with one of our product developers to learn more about the process behind creating a beautiful and safe doll. Here’s what she shared:

Fabrics

One of the first things customers often mention in their reviews on Shopify and Amazon is the softness and quality of our dolls.

This is largely due to the fabrics we choose. As our product developer explained, every fabric is carefully selected before production begins. We source materials from a specific collection that has already been pre-approved and tested for newborns.

Babies love to gnaw, chew, and play with their dolls. Because of this, products designed for newborns must not contain any harmful chemicals or any features that could pose a safety risk.

It is also important to note that not all of our products are specifically designed for newborns. Some items, like our Montessori Dolls and Montessori Soft Books, are created with toddlers in mind. However, our team is committed to meeting a specific standard of excellence.

For this reason, each product is tested to meet newborn safety standards, meaning that all of our fabrics, yarns, and fillings are safe for babies.

Parts

In addition to selecting baby-safe materials, our team carefully designs each product with newborn safety in mind.
We intentionally avoid including small parts whenever possible. However, in certain cases where the design requires them, each piece is securely reinforced with strong threads and are carefully stitched on to ensure that it will not detach or pose risk.

Quality Testing

After each sample is created, they are sent to a laboratory for safety testing. The lab verifies that our dolls meet the EN71 European Safety Standard, which is known for its strict requirements.
As our product developer explained, these tests are designed to replicate the many ways babies interact with dolls.

After a sample has been approved, the product will then move into mass production. During this phase, our products will still undergo three to five rounds of quality testing.

Our team will vigorously inspect each item to ensure that they are safe for newborns. They do this by twisting, pulling, and tugging our products. Also, since a lot of our products are handmade, they will go through an extra inspection step to confirm that no sewing needles or sharp objects were accidentally left behind during production.

Once each doll has passed these quality checks, they are then packaged and shipped to families across the globe.

Final Note

As a team, we take our product’s safety seriously. For us, it goes beyond ensuring our products meet the mandatory safety standards.
While chatting with our product developer, she mentioned that many of our coworkers have children. Because of that, when our dolls undergo quality testing, our team often asks themselves a simple but important question: Would I let my own child play with this?

That mindset truly guides how we evaluate every product. For us, safety isn’t just a requirement, it’s a personal responsibility.

At Leyadoll, we’re committed to creating products that we feel comfortable bringing into our own homes. And that’s the same level of care that we want to deliver to every family that trusts our brand.

Kindly,

Leyadoll Family
